ORIGINAL STORY
Covelo, CA – A vegetation fire, dubbed the “Short Fire,” ignited in Covelo, California, this evening. The fire erupted at approximately 7:35 PM in the 27000 block of Mendocino Pass Road, so far engulfing approximately 6 acres of grass and oak woodland. Firefighters on the scene have reported a moderate rate of spread, and there is growing concern that the fire has the potential to extend beyond a single day, leading to an extended attack.
The fire’s location in a grass and oak woodland terrain poses a challenge to firefighters, as such areas are known to facilitate the rapid spread of fires. The dense vegetation and dry conditions provide ample fuel for the flames to consume, increasing the urgency of the firefighting operation.
The situation is being closely monitored by authorities. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available. Please stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
