Potter Valley, Ca – A person has drowned at a popular swimming hole along the East Fork of the Russian River, situated across from Cold Creek Compost. Initial Dispatch occurred at around 3:45 PM this afternoon. As the sun shone brightly on this hot summer day, what should have been a joyous moment quickly turned into a tragic loss.

First responders, alerted to the scene, promptly arrived and initiated life-saving efforts, administering CPR in a desperate attempt to revive the victim. However, despite their valiant efforts and unwavering dedication, they were unable to resuscitate the individual, as confirmed by the scanner at the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased on-site at around 4:20 PM.

The swimming hole near Potter Valley Road has long been a favored recreational spot for locals and tourists alike, drawing people to its refreshing waters and natural beauty. However, authorities have also recognized the potential risks associated with such locations and have cautioned visitors to exercise extreme caution when venturing into the river.
