A vehicle careened off State Route 20, landing in Clear Lake between the towns of Nice and Lucerne. The incident was first reported at approximately 3:23 p.m., close to the intersection of State Route 20 and Foothill Drive.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) logged the vehicle as being around 50 feet off the roadway and submerged in the water. Reports highlighted that the driver remained inside the vehicle after the incident, prompting immediate response from passersby attempting to help.
Emergency services, including Cal Fire, were quickly alerted. By 3:26 p.m., units were dispatched to the scene. As of 3:48 p.m., CHP confirmed that the vehicle had gone down an embankment before ending up in the lake.
Two towing services, JONES and ALL IN ONE, were contacted for the removal of the vehicle from the scene.
