The spot fire on the West side of Hwy 101 has been contained; Overall, IC Reports “Good control on spot fire. Continue water tender and engines.”

Calpella, Ca – A small grass fire has ignited along Highway 101 in Calpella, prompting emergency crews to rush to the scene. The fire, referred to as the Calpella Fire, broke out shortly after 2:40 PM in a mowed grass area and is slowly spreading into the nearby vegetation on the west side of the freeway.
Firefighters are working diligently to contain the blaze, taking particular care due to the proximity of structures near the northern end of the fire. As a precautionary measure, authorities are assessing whether any lanes of the busy highway will need to be shut down to ensure the safety of motorists and emergency personnel.
Initial reports indicate that the fire has a slow rate of spread, giving firefighters a chance to get the situation under control. The Incident Commander (IC) on the scene has requested a Type 3 Engine
