Ukiah, Ca – A motorcyclist was seriously injured this evening after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of South State Street and Church Street in Ukiah.
At approximately 6:13 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a vehicle colliding with a motorcyclist at the intersection. Law enforcement was immediately requested to respond to the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.
Upon arrival, the Incident Commander reported that the motorcyclist had sustained mild to moderate injuries, including an “open compound fracture.” This type of injury is a cause for concern, as it involves a broken bone that penetrates the skin, requiring urgent and specialized medical care. As a result, the injured rider was transported to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley for initial treatment.
Due to the severity of the injuries and the need for immediate specialized care, the decision was made to Send the injured motorcyclist to a more advanced medical facility. An air ambulance was then dispatched to the Ukiah Airport where authorities set up an “LZ” (Landing Zone) to airlift the injured Patient.
