Healdsburg, Ca: A wildfire broke out in Healdsburg, California, today, engulfing an area of 12 acres that quickly spread. The Healdsburg fire, which began around 2:25 PM, ignited near the 16977 block of Healdsburg Avenue in Healdsburg. Within a short span, it expanded from 50′ to about 3-5 acres in size, forcing a prompt response from firefighting agencies and aerial support.

As soon as the wildfire was reported, firefighting agencies sprang into action. An air attack and Two tankers, T85 and T86, were promptly dispatched from Sonoma to confront the blaze, while an additional air tanker, T90, was called in from Ukiah However, despite the determined response, circumstances dictated that T90 was not needed and was later canceled/returned to Ukiah Air Attack Base.

Despite the dedication of the responders, the wildfire managed to jump Highway 101, raising concerns for the safety of nearby communities, including Lytton Springs. The fire’s change in direction created a sense of urgency among authorities and residents, prompting them to brace for the potential “Major” spread of the flames.

As the wildfire continued its path, it became evident that the fire was not growing at an alarming rate but rather at a moderate pace. The containment efforts began to show promising results as firefighters managed to prevent the fire from escalating further. Their tireless work and strategic response enabled them to gain control over the situation, ultimately leading to the fire’s containment.

The Healdsburg Fire Department has confirmed that the wildfire is now 100% contained at around 12.2 acres. This reflects the effectiveness of their coordinated response and the crucial support provided by aerial units like tankers and helicopters as well as ground based Firefighters.
